What happened to Library 101 and 201 Brightspace Courses?

Answer

The University Libraries is upgrading several key platforms including the library’s catalog, ZipSearch, and all EBSCO Databases in June 2025. These changes have rendered the library’s information literacy courses, Library 101 and 201, out of date and unfortunately, unusable.

These transitions to the new library platforms will be the main focus of library staff efforts for the next several months. Once we have settled in to the new resources, new tutorials and courses will be developed.

In the meantime, the Library 101 and 201 courses will no longer be supported and will be hidden from the Brightspace course menus. Please review your syllabi and assignments to ensure that you do not have any reference to these courses this summer and fall.

In the meantime, please see these short tutorials that cover the basics of the new interface and reach out with your information literacy instruction needs and University Libraries will be happy to offer tailored instruction or provide links to other useful tools, depending on your student learning outcomes. We are all looking forward to the new library platforms, and ultimately, a refreshed approach to information literacy instruction in the future!
